The Abu Dhabi Government Youth 4 Sustainability (Y4S) Program, under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, represents a worldwide initiative by Masdar that empowers the emerging generation of sustainability leaders.
The Future Sustainability Leaders (FSL) initiative is a year-long program that establishes connections between university students and young professionals with influential global figures in the realms of business, policy-making, and technology. Its goal is to equip them with the most up-to-date sustainability best practices.
This comprehensive program offers essential knowledge, skills training, valuable work experience, and networking opportunities through a series of events spanning a 12-month period. Each cycle commences at Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week (ADSW), the largest sustainability gathering in the region, which is held annually in January in Abu Dhabi.

The Abu Dhabi Government Youth 4 Sustainability (Y4S) Program has set the ambitious goal of reaching one million young individuals by 2030 through a holistic learning experience. It also seeks to raise awareness about the skills necessary for future careers in sustainability. This mission is carried out through the Future Sustainability Leaders and Sustainability Ambassadors programs, along with a series of global outreach initiatives.
With the esteemed support of its Principal Partner, the Abu Dhabi Department of Energy, Y4S is in alignment with both the UAE’s Principles of the 50 and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDGs).
Requirements:
To be considered for the Abu Dhabi Government Youth 4 Sustainability (Y4S) Program, you must:
- Be a secondary school students or undergraduate or graduate of UAE national or international student of aged between 15 and 35
- Hold an undergraduate degree, or be pursuing one at an accredited institution. Or in secondary school for Sustainability Ambassadors Program (open to all majors)
- Have excellent Spoken English
Duration and Reward
- The Abu Dhabi Government Youth 4 Sustainability (Y4S) Program will provide full sponsorship for selected applicants.
Future Sustainability Leaders (FSL) Program
The Future Sustainability Leaders (FSL) is a comprehensive year-long initiative that fosters connections between university students and young professionals and influential figures in the global business, policy, and technology sectors. Its primary aim is to equip them with the latest sustainability best practices.
This program offers essential foundational knowledge, skills training, real-world work experience, and networking opportunities throughout a 12-month period. Each cycle commences at Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week (ADSW), the largest sustainability gathering in the region, which is held annually in January in Abu Dhabi.
Additionally, the Sustainability Ambassadors (SA) program is designed for high school students, offering them a year-long opportunity to become Sustainability Ambassadors. The program includes core knowledge and skills training, hands-on work experience, and valuable networking opportunities at significant events throughout the academic year.
